The Hawks secured the first of two possible cup semi-final places this season on Tuesday night with an emphatic 3-0 win at home against Farnborough in the Senior Cup. In what was the 11th cup match for the side so far this season the Hawks took an early 21st minute lead when Perry Ryan fired a superb 22 yard shot across keeper Kevin Scriven.

Nic Ciardini then secured the win with two second half goals. The first came when Scriven parried a fierce shot from Nigel Atangana to the edge of the box, and Ty Berry’s attempt to clear sent the ball straight to the former Farnborough midfielder. The second arrived seven minutes from the end when Ciardini was left unchecked at the back of the box to pick up and thump home a Dennis Oli free kick.

The draw for the semi-final will take place on Saturday 1st February on Radio Solent, and will see the Hawks face Basingstoke, Gosport or AFC Portchester in the final step before a possible cup final at Fratton Park.
