The Hawks rose to seventh in the fledgling league table after beating Weston-super-Mare on Saturday, despite already holding a game in hand on most of the sides above them. Farnborough’s ongoing problems with league registration meant the Hawks were already playing catch-up with just one game of the season under their belts, but the delayed start to their home campaign did little to dampen their spirits as they bested their West Country visitors by two unanswered goals.

It was though a stuttering start as the Hawks struggled to get to grips with the game in the first half, but it took just sixty seconds after returning to the pitch for the hosts to go ahead when Sahr Kabba cut into the box to drive a shot home. A goalmouth scramble that lead to a foul on Nic Ciardini gave the Hawks their second from the spot, and having dispatched no less than three penalties in pre-season it was Christian Nanetti who made sure of the win in the 76th minute.
