The Hawks began their road to recovery with a 3-2 victory against AFC Bournemouth's second string at Westleigh Park tonight. Caretaker manager Steve Johnson gave most of his squad a run out in the game, starting with an eleven that featured players who have been confined to the bench in recent matches.

Bournemouth took a fourth minute lead through Lyall TAYLOR before a swift string of moves saw the Hawks level in the eighth. Bobby Hopkinson fired the ball out of midfield to Ollie Palmer on the left, and his cross met Alex BALDACCHINO at the back post for a volley into the roof of the net.

Former Hawk Steven GREGORY put the Cherries ahead again just before the half hour with a snap shot from 30 yards that slipped under Dan Thomas, but amid a flurry of second half substitutions for the home side two more goals sealed the win.

Scott JONES bagged the first with twenty minutes to go when he volleyed home Steve Ramsey’s deep cross from out by the home dugout, and then Christian NANETTI fired home the winner from the spot after his long run on the left ended with him being brought down by Gary Bowles with just four minutes to go.
