Alec Masson

(Right Defence)
Born 1981
Alec made a single appearance for the Hawks in 1999 before signing for Bognor Regis. He made an extremely good impression on that occasion though and transferred back to the club in August 2000. Hampered by a broken arm sustained in a reserve team match against Croydon the same month, Alec failed to gain a foothold in the first team and eventually left to concentrate on studying while playing less demanding football in the Sussex County league.

Returning to the Hawks late in the 2001/02 season his rapidly improving ability combined with a stalwart reliability saw him become the lynch pin of the Hawks defence, recognised in May 2003 when he was awarded both the Supporters’ Player and Players’ Player of the Season awards. Last season he was the only regular fixture in an ever-changing defensive line up, and for a time was team captain after Gareth Hall’s departure. Alec has also played for the Cayman Islands national team and as a youth played for Bath City.

Although the Hawks still hold Alec’s player registration he is currently away from the game focusing on his career.
