| Coventry born Steven was released by Portsmouth in May 2008 after making 30 reserve team appearances in the previous two seasons. Despite spending six months of the 2007/08 season on the injured list with torn ligaments, he still scored 13 times in Academy and Reserve games. In his first two years with the Hawks he played 71 games, coming more to prominence toward the end of the 2009/10 season as an attacking midfielder with goal scoring ability, notching eight times so far.
