| Coventry born Steve was released by Portsmouth in May 2008 after making 30 reserve team appearances in the previous two seasons. Despite spending six months of the 2007/08 season on the injured list with torn ligaments, he still scored 13 times in Academy and Reserve games.
In his first four years with the Hawks he has played over 150 games, gaining more prominence in the side each season. As an attacking midfielder he also has goal scoring ability; notching 23 times so far and last season coming one goal shy of equalling top scorer Ollie Palmer.
