Ian Simpemba(Central Defence (Captain))
|Shaun Gale’s first signing of the 2007/08 close season came in the form of Lewes defender Ian Simpemba. Formerly with Wycombe Wanderers and Crawley Town, Dublin born Ian was integral to Lewes’s championship run in 2008, and he amassed 88 appearances with the Rooks during a two season tenure.
His three year stint with Wycombe started in 2001 as a trainee, where he made 20 first team appearances and enjoyed two loan spells at Woking before signing for Crawley Town in July 2004 as the side started life in the Conference National. Two years and 66 appearances later, he moved to Lewes via a short loan spell at Aldershot Town.
In his first two seasons with the Hawks he has become an essential member of the side with an astonishing tally of 96 appearances, scoring 14 goals with bullet headers from corners. His commitment was crowned in July 2009 when he was named successor to Jamie Collins as the new Captain of the Hawks.
Left the Hawks in July 2010 after relocating to Kent. Very quickly signed for Ebbsfleet.
