Luke Byles

(Left Midfield)
Born 1984
Luke was spotted playing Wessex League football for Hamble ASSC by Southampton scouts in 2001, and the then seventeen year old joined the Saints Academy as a second year student. During the 2002/03 season he played in the Premiership sideís reserves with fellow Hawk Brett Poate, and was one of two players retained as graduating professionals in May 2003. After again featuring in Southamptonís reserve side at the start of the Premier Reserve League season 2003/04, Luke was released at the end of August.

He signed for the Hawks on September 1st 2003, and debuted against Dover Athletic the same day. Having spent most of his first season getting to grips with a role in the Hawks defence, toward the end of the campaign he moved to the midfield where he remained last season making infrequent appearances due to injuries. However, back to full strength in 2005/06, he made the left back position his own with some tremendous performances, earning the young player of the year award in the process. Out of contract and unable to agree new terms, Luke left the Hawks in summer 2007.
