Kabba goal is enough to top Basingstoke
Sun Mar 23, 2014 : 11:15
The Hawks maintained their ninth place in the table yesterday with a 1-0 victory away at Senior Cup Final opponents Basingstoke. The only goal of the game came in the 19th minute. Scott Donnelly set it up when he intercepted former Hawk Jay Gasson’s poor attempt to clear and fed the ball into Sahr Kabba’s path. The striker then attempted to lift a shot over Dragons’ keeper Louis Wells, whose fingertip touch as it passed him wasn’t enough to stop the ball reaching the net.
The Hawks now sit seven points behind the play-offs with four games in hand on the top teams, the first of which is a tantalising match at home tomorrow night to sixth placed Bath City - a win against whom would see the Hawks up into seventh spot just below the Romans.
