Rocks solid

Thu Jul 26, 2012 : 22:27

The Hawks took on Ryman South playoff winners Bognor Regis Town at Westleigh Park tonight, securing a 1-1 draw through virtue of a late Ollie Palmer finish five minutes from time.

The visitors looked the better side through a first half that saw little from the hosts, and the Rocks took the lead in the 25th minute when Ashley Robinson was handed the ball after Terry Dodd’s initial run took him past three defenders for a shot that Clark Masters could only block.

The hosts made more of the game in the second half and thought they’d equalised when Eddie Hutchinson headed home a cross from Tony Taggart in the 69th minute, only for the goal to be disallowed.

When the equaliser finally did come it was a result of Christian Nanetti’s dancing footwork on the left wing. Skipping past his marker, he crossed perfectly for Palmer to tilt the ball in at the back post.
