Dover Athletic shattered any illusion that the Hawks could reboot their league aspirations this new year with a 4-0 hammering at the Crabble this afternoon.

Haunted by the spectre of a poor winter run so far, the Hawks returned to action after a snowbound fortnight looking directionless and proved easy prey for the Whites when Frannie Collins found the net twice in as many minutes just before half time.

With swirling rain driving across an already sodden pitch, Adam Birchall struck a third time for the hosts eight minutes into the second half, leaving the Hawks no way back into the game. Soundly beaten, the visitors managed to contain Dover until the final five minutes when Shaun Welford’s solo run took him through the defence for a well placed finish and an emphatic victory for the home side.
