Quite a different view tbh Spades. For 60 minutes, we played a goodish game, with some nice passing, wing play (things lacking all season) and out played Thurrock. However, throughout the match we were very nervy at the back and it should have been 2-2 before half time, with them missing that 1 on 1. But playing the way we were, you'd have been confident of us outscoring them over 90 minutes.
Unfortunately we only did it for 60 minutes, the last half an hour was a different story. The substitute decisions were diabolical... replacing the wingers (Henry and Gray) for Wilkinson and Walker effectively gave us 4 CM and we went back to the normal style of play. I knew when the subs were all made we could be in trouble, it doesn't need the benefit of hindsight to see the subs changed the game and not for the better. Frankly I was disgusted, it's not rocket science, yet Gale continues to make the worst tactical decisions humanly possible.
I should also point out, that LW and striker of Thurrock made some fab runs with great through balls played and the assistant gave them offside when on 2 different occasions they were well onside. I know, I was in the stand for the match in line having a laugh with others around me. Had he had glasses, it could have been level sooner. They were opening us up.
Such a shame really, Thurrock really are no great shakes.
