Why can't we have a yoof team for us nippers (over 40's) ?

I feel that this is a terrible oversight, as with the right coaching, I could be world class within ten years...

The bottom line is that as with most vices (sex, tobacco, alcohol, gambling, driving, voting etc.), a minimum age limit is there to protect you and wider society from the consequences of actions that you are not yet capable of fully understanding.

You'll just have to wait your turn and not wish your life away!

Gentlemen, great training session again, and what a match!!! is it my imagination or are we getting better? I thought our passing to feet had dramatically improved.

Great result 4 all, but as always in conference football the referee was EMBARRASSING

I have approached Wyeth, offering them a unique and interesting sponsorship opportunity, watch this space.

I agree, I think we are getting better, another good training session today. It will be interesting to see how we compete against other teams in the mid-November tournament. Totally agree about the ref......absolute rubbish as usual!! LOL Hope we can get some sponsorship it would be very appreciated!

Yep, I thought the idea of getting Viagra to sponsor our shirts was inspired.
Any sponsorship would be great, but maybe we'd rather not have Tena for Men thank you!

We were robbed Stewart, can't believe that the ref didn't allow our fifth and winning goal from Paul!! I suppose being sponsored by Viagra will bring a whole new meaning to 'keepy uppy' !!!

An update for all the followers of the ENIGMATIC over 50's team.

Our first session on astro today, started with a very complicated warm up with 100% of the team confused, but it did the trick.

We were only 7 today, with George sidelined again, so 3 against 3 it was, the matches were played at a blistering pace, and the goals were flying in all over the place, we had no further injuries, although one of the old boys had a weak bladder moment

We are all starting to realise that our memory's aren't quite what they were, as Shaun forgot to ask for subs and we all forgot to pay

just to prove the memory loss, the game was a draw, the score was 7 all or 8 all

The hardcore of the team were on great form today, the fitness levels are amazing, the skills are building and the commitment is 110% all round

We are still on the hunt for sponsors before our first match in anger, or perhaps we can get a couple of attractive ladies to do a bucket collection at one of our home games for us

Finally BIG thanks to Shaun for putting up with us, and trying to put together a team

Anyway, it was a good session again, much faster on the astro surface, but I guess realistically we're going to have to get used to that for matches.

It was also nice to use the proper first team matchballs.

I presume they'll put something on the OS, but just to let people know there is no training session next week, but we're back in action again the following week.

I paid as well......at least I think I did....!!! It was good on the all weather pitch, the ball zipped around lots though!! As you say it's something we will have to get used to. I feel that we are knocking the ball around really well, and we also have some good 'hotshots' in the team who can score a goal or two...so looking forward to the tournament mid-November. See you all at Canvey tomorrow!!!!

Dunno if there's a future in this, but I've sowed the seeds anyway.....

Had a word with Adi Aymes yesterday about WALKING CRICKET. He was good enough not to laugh in my face, and seemed to think there might be a way forward with it.

If any other over-50s are interested, then lets keep it on the agenda and see if we can take advantage of Adi's standing in the "normal" game to help make it happen?
