'ello' mate

mark certainly would say that to shaun's face and historically did :!:

don't think it took any 'balls' either, as shaun isn't the sort of guy, imho, who would spark mr. k out ;)

it might have read a bit dismissive but i think ketchup was just trying to sum things up succinctly inna non-patronising, non-hypocritical stylee :?:

It's truly amazing how Gale continues to get the credit for our cup run culminating in heroic defeat at Anfield. It was Baird's team, no argument, that achieved those famous victories against league opposition. As Lenin first observed, if a lie is repeated often enough it becomes an accepted truth.

my view on Mr lynch's supposed correction of marks post, on the matter of the team that s.g. took over from baird, is how many of that side did s.g. sign?, baird had set the team up, and the way that they played, he just kept the momentum flowing, until he started falling out with the players, and tinkering with the team, imo, if you look back, it was the arrival of the Lewis players, that seems where the decline started, and who signed them?, and just look at how much of the chairman's money was wasted on mediocre players, who probably was not coached by gale to play how he wanted them too, people have been saying for a long time, that s.g. was inept as a manager, the likes of myself, billy g, frankjames etc, only for the likes of the hardcore s.g. fans, who had there tongues, so far up galys arse, putting these people away.
on the board being changed, its still the same old Mr pope putting up the money, unlike the others who have come and gone.
i just hope that this bunch of players that gale has put together, and you cant blame baldy for any input in them, can somehow come up with a few wins, to keep us in the league, its the very least our chairman deserves,

i think the trouble started before that it started with the tom jordan transfer fiasco and all the nonsense that went with it i'm glad the players at the time went on stuck it up bairdy and showed they could do well without him  i expect he was sitting indoors full of envy and jealousy that's why he came and raided our club
as he told us he took us as far as he could now at beastleigh looks like he is coming to the end again another club he took as far as he could ;)
wonder if he will end up at afc totton next,so the merry-go-round continues
this is why i suggested someone like terry brown lets get away from all this nonsense and start with someone fresh

As I said before, I didn't see Baird on the bench in any of our cup games other than the Bognor one...and I didn't realise he 'set the team up' and got them play 'the way that they played' for all of the cup matches...I must thank him next time I see him...

So by your reckoning Bobby Gould didn't win the FA Cup with Wimbledon, because he inherited a side from Dave Bassett the season before?

I'm not defending all of Shaun Gale's tenure, just feel he deserves credit for getting the best out of the squad during the run, especially when we were down to the bare bones player-wise at times, as well as commending him on his conduct during the cup run. As far as I'm concerned anyone who doesn't give him credit for those three great months is being incredibly churlish.

In response to frankJames - I have been a deputy (I was going to say number 2, but that strikes all sorts of images!) and to be honest, I often had to do things that if I was in charge I would have done completely differently.
SJ does appear often to be the one giving advice and guidnace from the touchline rather than just blaming officials and shouting 'come on' followed by 'f***ing come on' etc.
Do I think that he is the right appointment - only time will tell, but until he proves otherwise, give the fella a chance and back him.

Just one last comment, although I think that SG was not the right man for the job for the last two years - he really did take us some memorable place so thanks for the memories.

Good post nigel didn't look at it that way thought being assistance manager he would have a major say
Hopefully he rallys the side and we stay up

Nobody likes to see some one lose their job,but in gales case it should have been 18 months ago when it became obvious that he really had taken the team as far as he could.Shaun came across as a nice bloke and i think everyone wanted him to succeed but after a great start its been downhill ever since . So i would like to wish him well for the future and thank him for his work for the club .
