winning goal just had to be one of the most exciting i've ever seen the hawks score :!:

it was a bit of a slog, but we're cramming in games now, and winning

sometimes the sexy footie has to take a back seat, i guess.

and yes, we're doing some really daft stuff like giving away foul throws with 2 mins left. and gifting the opposition goal kicks when we've tried to work a corner to the flag.

BUT, and maybe the most important 'but', our spirit is unquestionable.

awesome, shaun, give me a perfect start to valentines day on saturday

RE Mr. Medley, he reminded me of my school days in the 70's and one of those kids who hated PE and during the subsequant football match in the howling wind and rain would turn his back on the play becuase he was totally uniteresed and desperate to keep warm. plus the term could'nt trap a blancmange came to mind last night! very, very poor, if we see another demonstration of enthusiasm like that then he can trot back off to wence he came as i felt last nights short display was an insult to the other players who worked thier socks off! Dont normally have a dig at players but that was embarrassing!

Yes KoS I remembered him and the brush of fag-stain yellow fluff on his head as well. Has never had a bad game against us. Fights for 90 minutes. Top lad.

However, when you say keep an eye on him, don't forget the Louis Castles Principle (also known as Warren Haughton's Law)! Players that are good against us will almost certainly turn out to be a niffin' sh*thouse as soon as we sign 'em up.

p.s. may I add my 'top second half boys' type comments to those before. Good times. Can't wait for Saturday.

And the last time we won four league games on the trot was pretty much three years ago to the day, when we beat Dorchester, Bishops Stortford (yes, THAT 5-4 game!), Weston and Basingstoke.

Another strange game last night. We did create a fair bit over the 90 minutes, and probably should have won by a bigger margin. But as we were saying last night, the worst thing you can do is give a struggling team a one goal headstart, as it gives them something to cling on to and defend. So to do this and still come back to win is pleasing. The key was the early goal in the second half - the longer the game went on the more confidence Stortford would have gained, and the more difficult we might have found it to score.

Good to see Manny back on top form - he now looks like the confident, pacey, skillful forward we had back in the early part of the season. Also great to see Steve Walker getting another goal - in his role he should be getting up to support the forwards, which is just what he's doing now.

I'm so pleased with how things are going at the moment, I can't find the words for it!

It therefore seems churlish to make any adverse comments, but I say this in the hope that our good performances recently might get even better:

Fully agree about Medley - he looked absoluetely pi$$ed off and disinterested.

But for me, and I've said the same to Shaun face to face, Jay Gasson is no left back. He played the first half in front of me, and I'm sorry to say, he was awful. The number of times he didn't just deal with a sutuation, I lost count; and this was the cause of their penalty - the ball was his to put some leather behind, but he dithered. & he was constantly complaining to/about other players. It sounds like I have a downer on him, I don't, it's just true.

Apart from that, well done, and thank you, thank you, thank you.

That second goal was one of the best worked goals I've seen for some time. Performance was decidedly average in the first half especially, although I thought Bishops did really well considering that half the side was made up of sixth formers from the local schools! Second half we really asserted our authority, but still lack that ability to kill off teams. It must be time for a three nil or four one result. These nervy endings are not good week in week out!

A good result from the lads to beat Bishops but we if we are to have any remote chances of getting to the play offs, we need to starting boosting our goal difference as of the teams above us, we are the poor relations and the final play off spot could go down to that.

One point that has been missed and deserve a mention is the quick organisation of our stewards who rushed to help an injured spectator in the stands who got whacked by a blast of the ball from a Bishops player. Even Gary MacDonald looked concerned, when it happened. Credit to the club for having efficienct stewards who does their jobs well.

A good battling performance again last night, I was pleased the way we came back in the second half to get the win. Brill goal set up by Manny and well taken by Walker.

Have to agree with the above comments about Luke and Jay Gasson. Luke clearly didn't fancy it last night, looked totally dissinterested. And Gasson is not a left back, he had a very poor game.

All credit to the young Bishops team, they gave their all but were outclassed in the second half by a good Hawks team.

To be honest, after the awful away game at Woking I couldn't see us getting four more wins all season, never mind four on the trot!! Its a funny old game! Bring on Lewes to make it five!
