sorry that it didn't work out for Lee.

yet another big signing who it didn't work out for.

if I lost that sort of money at work i'd soon be out on my ear.

I doubt that we would ever attract a player of any sort of standing again under the current regime.

what a pity we have fallen that far
And who'd have thought that afterall ,that something as simple as Rock'n'Roll could save us all.

Cue a stampede of posts to demand we spend the cash we're saving... :wtf:

Can't really blame the club for doing this, as Mark has said we haven't had that much of a return on investment. Plus, when you're only playing one up front what's the point in having 4 forwards on your books ;)

So anyway, why haven't we spent the money yet...after all, we've got the Peacock AND Fogden AND Ashmore cash now, where's my new signing? Not happy...

I must admit I'm not disappointed by this news. I'm sure the board will put the money saved to good use as they see fit ;)

Spot on Mark.
I wonder how much that cost us? I mean if someone is on a decent contract they are not just going to leave just becuase we say we don't want them any more. Maybe paid up half his contract to get him to leave = a couple grand?

Also what a hopeless job we did at the start of the season signing forwards. First home game these were the 4 forwards at the club -
Nwokeji - paid off to leave club.
Peacock - paid off to leave club.
Scott - never was going to be good enough
Mc Bean - less said about that one the better.

Lee was never a striker, yet we made him look a bad one my playing him there. He was injury prone but that comes with age.

I don't hold anything against him for these reasons, we bought the wrong player with the wrong attributes... that's not his fault. All the best.
Come on you Hawks.

Come on Rich - sort the site banners out ;)

Yep, hard to say he'll be sorely missed, but as to why it didn't work out I guess will be a matter of contention. Unless he rocks up down the road with the Spitfires and bangs in a hat-trick against us later in the year of course....

Ade- You could always take some time out at work to prepare yourself for that job...make a cup of tea, talk to some nice brunette sitting near you in the office and then take a trip to the canteen.....

Just a normal day in the office then!

I don't envy you on that one Ade...

If I were you I'd ease into the conversation by telling her Santa Claus and the tooth fairy don't exist, it may cushion the blow a little...

Agreed.

Some players have flexibility and can fit into any system, while others need a specific system to bring out their best (e.g. Booth). Peacock never looked the part and looks to have struggled with the transition of age and a different league (- not everyone is a Holdsworth).

Gale's eye for a player is actually pretty good (- and we have had a good run of young or unfashionable players doing well for the Hawks), whereas buying "experience" in seems to backfire too often. Perhaps the Manager should trust his own instincts a little more, rather than the player's CV.

Peacock OUT Arthur IN.....good days business IMO
