Credit where credit is due - the Hawks did very well to come back and win 2 -1 with 10 men against a very poor maidendead
Lets hope the lads can take that spirit into every game for the rest of the season
well done lads

Man of the match definitely Scotty "no-mates" Jones!
Nice to see the whole side really seeming to want it - shame we have to go down to 10 men and a goal behind before the adrenaline really seemed to get going.
Rambo, Perry, and Hutch must have covered a few miles each today, never mind what Scotty did. Best game I've seen from all three of them for a while, maybe they might be the combo we need in front of the back four?
Christian Nanetti, he'll do for me; he's from Bologna, in Italy.
His left foot's so good it talks; Christian Nanetti plays for the Hawks!

Oh come on frank. You sound almost bitter we won. Celebrate a win for the club rather than a defeat for your personal agenda? There'll be plenty of chances to stick the knife in yet to come but today's not one of them. Moaning about the atmosphere just sounds like sour grapes.

That was a brilliant result today, a real turn around, but we really had to dig deep. The ref was rubbish, I said to my mate 10 mins in that I thought he was gonna send somebody off before the 2nd half, there was no menace in the game, (If anybody can explain Jones yellow i will buy you a beer!!) but he just seemed to let players tussle on the floor, and Bobby was the main one targeted, no complaints over the red card challenge, but they were baiting him something chronic.
But 1-0 down we looked like we were more than 1 man down, we were stretched in all areas of the pitch. It was painful to watch, but the midfield ran their balls off from the 70th min, and Jones terrorized their defence, and we deserved the win, but all credit to the players, they fought and fought, I thought m.o.m was Beazley, he had things covered when we were pressing, and that just put that important confidence at the back.
But my first game of the new year, and that game was just what i needed to kickstart my passion again!!!

“another pile of s'### waste of my saturday again…How low was the gate today and was it only me that thought it was dead” frankjames

I swear I am watching a different game to some fans. IMO we started the first half well and overall deserved the win. I wasn’t sure about the formation and playing positions at the beginning of the match but in retrospect Gale got it spot on. I suspect Gale would have preferred Rambo for Hinch in the middle with Igoe wide (injuries permitting). Other than that, any formation that means Peacock doesn’t play is a good one!

Bobby looked excellent in the hole behind Jones, he really opened up the play. Up until his red card I would have said he was our best player on the pitch. With Perry playing as well, we get a lot more of the ball. However I agree with others that over the 90 Jones was MoM, for sheer work rate alone. I would also prefer Jones over the Manny I saw yesterday.

Holland made some good challenges at the back but you do get better distribution with Woodford and/or Pearce. If you want to play the game on the floor and hold possession you need to start with Pearce & Woody (although you might sacrifice some defensive pragmatism to do that). I also thought Newton looked sharper today.

Arthur was effective out wide for spells of the game which is just as well as we need selection options in that position when CBB is off-form or Igoe is injured. The jury is out on Thompson but he was definitely the right substitution at the right time.

A pretty mediocre game played by 2 equally matched sides, livened up in the last 20 minutes by
the heart and fight shown by the Hawks to get something out of the game. It seemed to me that Ryan Woodford's appearance spurred us on, and one wonders WHY he isn't there at the start. Duchy Holland also had a steady game I thought, just did the basics well.

I'm sure most players and fans will wind Hopkinson up over his physique, so he doesn't help his Manager or his teammates by rising to it and doing something stupid like he did against Dartford
and yesterday.

I'm sure Maidenhead must have been desperately dissapointed that they couldn't see the game out, but hopefully we can take heart from yesterday's fightback and put a few good results together to protect our safety in this league
